CGS, KME & Peak

Kentucky Machine & Engineering, CGS Machine & Tool, and Peak Precision Manufacturing are three independent Kentucky machine shops built on the same foundation: skilled people who take pride in the details and don’t stop until the job is done right. They work at different scales, to the same standards.

The Challenge

Each shop had earned a reputation for great work. Customers just didn’t know the three were connected. A plant manager who trusted KME with a massive rebuild had no idea a sister shop could also handle a high-volume production run. A long-time CGS customer had never heard of Peak. Jobs that could have stayed in the family went elsewhere.

Nobody understood how the shops related to each other, or which one was right for which job. They needed a way to stand together without losing what made each shop its own.

The Solution

We started with interviews with leadership to understand each shop’s strengths, customers, and culture. From there, we built a brand system that lets three companies speak as one network while each keeps its own name.

  • Brand Architecture: An endorsement brand structure. Each company keeps its own leadership, logo, and identity, but all three share a common language and visual framework.
  • Messaging: A single line that works for every company: The Right Machine for Every Job. It’s supported by a shared purpose, mission, and written for the practical people who buy machining.
  • Visual Identity: Refreshed logos for all three shops, a combined network lockup, and consistent fonts, templates, and terminology that make the family resemblance obvious.
  • Photography: On-site shoots capturing the people, machines, and craftsmanship behind the work.

Websites: New sites for KME and Peak, designed to constantly point visitors to the rest of the network. Each site makes its own capabilities clear, then shows customers exactly where to go when a job calls for a different scale or specialty.

The Results

For the first time, KME, CGS, and Peak look and sound like what they are: a family of specialist shops with shared values. The endorsement structure gives each company room to own its specialty while making the connection between them impossible to miss. Every site, from KME’s heavy-equipment work to Peak’s production runs, now carries the same promise and the same path to the right shop. Instead of three machine shops claiming to do it all, manufacturers now see one trusted network with the right machine for every job, and a brand that finally looks as good as the work it represents.
